Our Story

Welcome! My name is Lisa, and I am the proud owner of Grassroots Essentials, a family-owned business that sells affordable, high-quality pure essential oils based in Owasso, Oklahoma.

With over 30 years of global sourcing experience in manufacturing, I have always been passionate about sourcing quality materials and products at the lowest cost. However, it was my personal journey in health and wellness that taught me how to care for myself and others through natural alternatives.

My husband, Mike, Army Sergeant Major (retired), served 24 years on active duty with multiple tours to the Middle East. He now manages business operations for manufacturing companies. We both grew up in San Diego, California, where we met as kids in 1983. Today, we have four adult children, and three grandkids.

Our son Mikey was diagnosed with autism when he was just 3.5 years old. From then on, natural alternative medicine became a significant part of our lives. We had to learn from the most basic level of educating ourselves in what he needed. It was a challenging journey, but it taught us a lot about natural remedies and how to take care of ourselves and others in a holistic way.

Mikey graduated from high school just before the Covid pandemic, and like many young adults, his adulthood was put on hold. We want to take control of his future by teaching him what it takes to care for himself through natural medicine, as well as building a legacy that he can someday manage on his own.

Our family has a history of various health conditions, including autism, ADHD, PTSD, anxiety, depression, diabetes, and cancer. Three years ago, Mike and I had an “aha” moment where we discussed what part 2 (retirement) would look like. It undoubtedly always equated to health and wellness. We want to be here for as long as we can for our family, as healthy as possible. To be well for those who need us, that meant our health had to be a priority.

As the saying goes, no one can take care of our children the way we can. So, we decided to combine our career experiences with our passion for health and wellness to create Grassroots Essentials. Our mission is to provide our community with access to the purest oils at the best price from ethical sources. We create supply from trusted partners who share our values. Our products are safe, meaning they contain no chemicals or toxins, and they are certified and tested for purity to ensure safety and health.
